Trouble Will Find Me : music review by jonny hall

December 28, 2013

The National were never really a band that I listened to, but “Trouble Will Find Me”, the sixth studio album from the band changed all that. From the eye-catching artwork, to the lead single – Demons, the album has an overarching power throughout, and while it is not necessarily an uplifting listen, it is certainly an enjoyable one. From the very beginning we are treated to the slow build of “I Should live in Salt” through to the driving rhythm of “Sea of Love” this is an album that really leaves a lasting impression. As someone who has always been told to listen to The National and never got round to it, I am now very glad that this album is in my life.

Introducing Our New Guest Music Blogger : Jonny Hall

December 17, 2013

I'm afraid this information is incredibly biased as Jonny is my wonderful boyfriend of nearly 4 years, but if there is one thing he loves more than me... it's music. He's recently graduated from Lincoln University studying Audio Production and is now working at a postproduction house in Soho. He's been in various bands over the years and has a worrying addiction to vinyl records. Jonny has an awesome broad taste in music and I love his recommendations so I hope you will too! Jonny will be reviewing and sharing up&coming bands, exploring old classics and letting you know the gigs you need to check out - on a fortnightly basis!

Art School Diaries

December 1, 2013

I thought I'd share my Art Blog with you as I've been quite absorbed with my degree the past few weeks. It feels so good to be learning, creating and making again. I've created an art blog to record my thoughts and research. I'm usually a strong advocate for pen, paper & sketchbooks, but sometimes I wince at the amount of material/paper we get through! So my art blog is a great way of saving a few trees and making my work accessible.
